Furniture Coordinator and Mover


Our families often move out into apartments with little or no furniture.  Luckily, we have committed donors who would like to support these families by finding a new home for their gently used furniture.  We need a volunteer to not only help move the furniture, but also to coordinate the donor, the alumni, the furniture, and the storage. 

Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Return calls or emails to donors looking to donate furniture
  • Work with Alumni Case Manager to track needs among alumni families
  • Coordinate with donor and clients times for pick-up and drop-off of donated items
  • As available, assist in transporting furniture to the client’s home or to our storage unit
  • Regularly (weekly or bi-weekly) check-in with staff is required
  • Note- this job will likely require the volunteer to use his/her personal phone to return calls and set up appointments.  (Staff can instruct on how to block your phone number when calling clients, if desired.) 

Days and Hours

Flexible based on volunteer availability, approximately 1-2 hours per week


Ability to help lift furniture donations; Personal vehicle (pick-up truck preferred); Age 18 or older; Completion of volunteer application, background check and reference checks; Copy of MVR and other driving information

Required Training

All volunteers are required to attend an Orientation Class and the Called To Protect class.
