Vincent Carroll of Denver Post argues for exemption to civil unions bill

Recent news reports have pointed out that Senate Bill 11 “Civil Unions” no longer includes an exemption for faith-based child placement agencies like Catholic Charities.

Such an exemption has been included in the past two years’ versions of this bill, and we strongly believe that an exemption should be reinstated in this year’s version of the bill.

On Wed., Feb. 13, Denver Post editorialist Vincent Carroll – who supports civil unions, in general – offered a compelling argument for reinstatement of this exemption.

We invite you to read it. We invite you to share it. We invite you support us in this effort to safeguard the beautiful and historic mission of our foster care and adoptive services, which serve so many children and families each year.

Civil unions or a nunnery? Please.”
By Vincent Carroll, Denver Post (Feb. 13, 2013)

As always, thank you for supporting Catholic Charities, and our mission to serve the poor and needy throughout northern Colorado.
