A man struggling with mental health finds help from an unexpected source
The man on the other end of the phone said his world was falling apart. He and his wife had recently divorced, she had moved in with another man, and he found himself drinking more to medicate the pain. To make matters worse, his 16-year-old son was in intensive care following a suicide attempt.
He wanted to see a priest. He’d walked away from his faith when he married outside the Church a number of years ago, but now, he felt the Church was the only place to turn.
The priest could hear pain and suffering in the man’s voice and knew the only way for him to receive the help he desperately needed was through Catholic Charities Regina Caeli Clinical Services. The man began to receive counseling and soon started the process of addressing the problems that weighed heaviest on his heart.

When faced with difficult or challenging circumstances, Catholics in search of mental health services don’t want to exclude God from the picture. Naturally, most then seek out the advice and guidance of their local parish priest. Many times though, priests are not equipped to fully respond to their parishioners’ emotional and psychological needs. It is especially important in those moments that they have a trustworthy and compentent mental health referral source on hand.

That’s where Catholic Charities’ Regina Caeli Clinical Services can help! They are a Catholic, community-based ministry providing Christ-centered psychological services throughout the Archdiocese of Denver.
