Catholic Charities and the US Catholic Conference of Bishops recognize that historical migration from rural areas to metropolitan areas is a concern particularly for the rural parishes and the migration’s effect on rural life and values. With the loss of individuals, families, and community leaders, rural areas no longer have the momentum to continue organizing, hosting and celebrating in ways they once did.

Rural Life Ministry helps promote active parish life in rural areas through resourcing, training, and educational programming.
