Catholic Charities keeps updated records for all adoptions finalized through the agency. Therefore, if you were involved in an adoption, it is beneficial to contact Catholic Charities with your updated contact information, especially if you have moved or changed names. The agency will never give this information to a third party without your consent.
However, having updated contact information can make it easier to reach clients with essential information, such as vital medical information or search information. Catholic Charities will deliver this information with respect for client privacy.
Birth parents are also encouraged to contact the agency with updated medical information that can be crucial to adoptees. Again, the agency can share this information without disclosing any identifying information.
Any member involved in the adoption is also able to submit information to the file, such as a letter or update to pass on, should the agency be contacted by the other party.
Clients who do not wish to search at this time are also encouraged to contact Catholic Charities to update their information, should someone be searching for them, or if there is updated information in their file.
In your message or e-mail, include your:
1. Full name
2. The name of your adoptive parents, if you were adopted, or your name at the time of the adoption, if you are a birth parent.
3. Your role in the adoption (birth mother, adoptee, etc)
4. The year or approximate year of the adoption.
5. Contact information (address, phone number, e-mail)
6. Any other information you would like to place in the file.
