What is an Enterprise Zone?

In 1986, Colorado enacted legislation to create Enterprise Zones to encourage private involvement in economically distressed areas to create new jobs and investment.

Catholic Charities’ homeless shelters are qualified Enterprise Zone organizations. Charitable donations through the Samaritan House in Denver, the Mission in Fort Collins, and the Guadalupe Shelter in Greeley support programs for homeless men, women children, and families. Our programs include health and dental care, employment services, childcare, transitional housing, counseling and, of course, food, shelter and clothing.

Tax Benefit for Donors

Any individual or corporation that pays Colorado State income tax may take advantage of this program. Cash gifts receive the standard federal deduction and the 25% state tax credit.

Donors may also gift stock utilizing the Enterprise Zone and qualify for a 12.5% tax credit. If the stock gift is accompanied by a cash gift of at least one-seventh (1/7) of the stock value, then the tax credit increases to 25%.
A gift of stock also saves you the capital gains tax on any appreciation in the stock’s value.

How to Donate:

Donations may be made by cash, check, credit card, or stock gift.
The maximum credit allowed is $100,000 per year.

For credit card gifts, donate online or call the number below.

For gifts by check, make payable to "Catholic Charities" and indicate “Enterprise Zone Tax Credit” on the memo line. Catholic Charities will send you a tax credit certificate to be filed with your tax return.
